After taking the world by storm in 2002 when they finished fourth at their home tournament, South Korea made another positive step four years later by winning their first World Cup match outside of Asia.

Despite it being a win over Togo, the Taegeuk Warriors were close to making the Round of 16 after drawing with France but a controversial loss to Switzerland ended their hopes.

That performance in Germany is likely to boost today's players as they know they can perform away from the comfort of their own country and with beatable opponents in their group, anything is possible.

A lot will rely on the performances of skipper Park Ji-Sung and goalscorer Lee Dong-Gook, who is currently under an injury cloud, but with plenty of energy and enthusiasm, Huh Jung-Moo's men may again raise some eyebrows on the world stage.
