Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been discussing the availability, or otherwise, of defender Joel Matip ahead of Wednesday's FA cup replay at Plymouth.
Matip 'refused to play' for Cameroon after being named in the preliminary squad for the Africa Cup of Nations and last appeared for them in September 2015.
Fifa says that without his country's permission, Matip cannot play for Liverpool until the end of Cameroon's participation in the tournament.
"I would consider him in the line-up for tomorrow, but I don't know if I can," says Klopp.
"Joel is not happy about the situation. I told him before the United game 'sorry, I can't pick you'.
"We are sure we did nothing wrong. We are sure Joel Matip did nothing wrong. Since he has been here he has not been a Cameroon player.
"Fifa have told us they will decide on Friday if they open a case or not."
