Klopp: Injuries cost Liverpool points

Jurgen Klopp was left to lament the injuries that he believes cost Liverpool points this Premier League season.

The Reds were without star players Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge, Joel Matip and captain Jordan Henderson for significant portions of the season.

"We all know we had no European football, so for us, it was not that [much] an advantage because we had injuries," said Klopp.

"Without injuries like Chelsea - and I don't want to make it too big - we could have had a few points more and it would have looked a little bit different."

After defeating Middlesbrough 3-0 on Sunday, Liverpool finished the season in fourth position on 76 points, which secured them Champions League qualification for the first time since 2014-15.
