Klopp has Liverpool medics ready for France trip today ahead of Fekir deal

Jurgen Klopp is driving Liverpool's demands that a deal for Lyon ace Nabil Fekir be settled before the World Cup.

The Daily Mail says Liverpool are on the brink of completing a £53million deal to make Fekir their second signing of the summer.

The France international has been Reds boss Klopp's prime target for the window, as he believes Fekir will prove to be the ideal long-term replacement for Philippe Coutinho and he's wanted the deal wrapped up before the World Cup, as does France national coach Didier Deschamps, whose side face the United States on Sunday.

Liverpool Sporting Director Michael Edwards has remained in discussions in an attempt to push the deal through and the club's willingness to get business completed has been illustrated by the fact members of Liverpool's medical team are waiting to fly to Paris to complete a medical.

Should there be no complications, Fekir would become the third player worth more than £50million Liverpool have signed in the space of eight months, following on from Naby Keita (£52.5m from RB Leipzig) and Virgil Van Dijk (£75m from Southampton).

It would also take their spending for this window to close to £100m after their initial purchase of Brazil midfielder Fabinho from Monaco.
