Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he will not get too carried away with Divock Origi.
The 20-year-old Belgian striker scored a hat-trick in the Reds' 6-1 thrashing of Southampton in the Capital One Cup quarter-final on Wednesday night, marking his first goals since joining the club in the summer.
There have been high expectations placed on Origi since Liverpool signed him from French club Lille for £10million and this performance shows what he indeed is capable of but Klopp still preferred to keep a lid on things as the youngster continues to hone his craft.
"We had a talk," Klopp said of the simple nature of Origi's stunning display.
"It's not too often that we agree in everything but I said he had to learn this and that, don't make this too difficult, and he said, 'yes, I know.'
"He wants to show everything in the short time he plays – everyone wanted him before Liverpool bought him – but he has to learn. He has to be patient. That's the truth.
"Tonight, he did everything simple, easy passes and finishes and movement. He got some good passes, but he's still young and has to learn."
