Klinsmann: USA intent on winning CONCACAF Gold Cup

Jurgen Klinsmann is eyeing success at this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The USA team are tuning up for the July tournament with friendlies against Holland and Germany over the next week-and-a-half and Klinsmann is looking to take big steps forward in these lead-up matches in order to have his team well-prepared for their regional competition.

"I think with these two games against Germany and against Holland we can kind of close the loop and say, 'Okay, now we know where to put them in the ranking,'" Klinsmann told USsoccer.com.

"Eventually it's down to naming a roster for the Gold Cup that is able to win that tournament, and you have to kind of leave the transition phase on the side.

"We will go into the Gold Cup with the 23 players that we believe in, in order to win that tournament, so it kind of all wraps up here in the next 10 days."

The co-hosts have been drawn alongside Panama, Haiti and Honduras in Group A for the tournament which takes place in the US and Canada from July 7 to 26.

The US have won the Gold Cup on five occasions, saluting in 1991, 2002, 2005, 2007 and the most recent tournament in 2013.
