Klinsmann rejects Chelsea for England chance

Jurgen Klinsmann has told Chelsea he isn't interested in the manager's job because he wants to coach England.

The Mirror says the former Germany striker, who led his country to last year's World Cup semi-finals, informed friends he will not take a post at club level as he wants to be free next summer to guide a team to the 2010 tournament.

That could put him in the frame for England boss should Steve McClaren's men fail to qualify for Euro 2008 or flop in the competition.

Klinsmann claims he was offered the Stamford Bridge job last season and again this summer while Jose Mourinho was still in charge. Chelsea insist they are now fully behind Avram Grant.

Other clubs to approach him included Spurs, where Klinsmann had two spells as a player in the 1990s.
