Klinsmann looking ahead as USA prepare for Honduras

Juergen Klinsmann was thrilled with the way his USA responded in their CONCACAF Gold Cup victory over El Salvador on Sunday.

The US defeated the Salvadorans 5-1 but had some nervy moments as the visitors made life difficult in Balitmore.

Now the US will get set to meet Honduras in the semi-final in Dallas on Wednesday and Klinsmann is looking ahead to that vital fixture.

"We are obviously pleased with the result. We knew it was a very tricky opponent and they proved that," said the German.

"They caused a couple of issues, especially right after half time. We missed a moment in the first half to kill it off with a third goal before they actually got their penalty, when Joe Corona had a nice opportunity. And so we had to hang on for a little bit longer. With Eddie Johnson's goal, the game was over pretty much.

"We are happy to be moving on, and hoping for another big crowd in Dallas."

Clarence Goodson and Joe Corona scored for the US prior to the half-hour mark before Rodolfo Zelaya clawed one back for El Salvador with a 39th minute penalty.

However, substitute Eddie Johnson restored America's two-goal lead on the hour-mark before Landon Donovan and Mikkel Diskerud completed the eventual rout.
