Klinsmann defends Yedlin over Tottenham move

USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann has defended DeAndre Yedlin over his move to Tottenham.

Yedlin's only appearances have been for Spurs' development team yet Klinsmann predicts brighter times ahead for the 21-year-old.

"Now DeAndre gets an introduction into a Tottenham squad of maybe 28-30 players, and only 18 can be considered for the weekend game," said Klinsmann. "So he goes through that learning curve now.

"But with his talent, potential and capabilities, he's very important for the senior team already. He's in the right spot because he needs to grow.

"He will grow eventually. Even if he's not playing right now, he will grow. It's absolutely the right thing for him to do and it will take time. These years are learning years. There are ups and downs, there are difficulties."
