Klinsmann adds LA Galaxy's Gonzalez, Seattle Sounders' Johnson to USA squad

USA boss Juergen Klinsmann has made four changes to his CONCACAF Gold Cup roster.

The German has guided the US side to the quarter-finals of the tournament and has brought in some reinforcements for the knockout phase.

LA Galaxy centre-half Omar Gonzalez, Sporting Kansas City defender Matt Besler, Seattle Sounders striker Eddie Johnson and San Jose Earthquakes forward Alan Gordon have been added to the squad ahead of Thursday's clash with El Salvador, however, Gonzalez will only join provided the team makes the semi-final.

Leaving the squad in Baltimore is Sporting Lisbon defender Oguchi Onyewu and Club Tijuana's Herculez Gomez, who are both injured, whilst Corey Ashe and Jack McInerney will head back to MLS clubs Houston Dynamo and Philadelphia Union respectively.

The US finished at the top of Group C after three straight victories over Belize (6-1), Cuba (4-1) and Costa Rica (1-0) with Chris Wondolowski scoring five of the 11 goals.
