Klein agrees to multi-year contract as LA Galaxy president

Reigning MLS champions LA Galaxy have signed Chris Klein to a multi-year deal as president.

The 37-year old former Galaxy midfielder took the reins as president in January this year and will now remain in the role for the foreseeable future.

"I'm pleased to continue my role as president of the LA Galaxy and to lead the premier team in MLS and North America," Klein said in a statement.

"The support from Mr. [Philip] Anschutz, Dan Beckerman and Bruce Arena has been a key component, not only in our success as a club, but also for me individually. We look forward to continuing to grow this club not only in Los Angeles but across North American and world-wide."

Klein has been with the club since joining as a player in 2007 and has held roles as the senior director of the Galaxy Academy as well as vice-president following his retirement at the end of 2010.
