Kiwi whizkid Cameron Howeison upstaged Liverpool star Luis Suarez at Melwood yesterday.

Liverpool found themselves at the wrong end of a 2-0 defeat against a sprightly Burnley Development Squad.

Howeison and Steven Hewitt helped the Clarets to victory at Melwood Training Ground, with Suarez completing his first 90 minutes for the club since last term, albeit for the development squad.

The opener came from New Zealand international Howieson in the 17th minute, with the Uruguayan international unable to get the Anfield outfit back in the game.

Development Squad coach Simon Weatherstone told the official Burnley website: "It was a great performance from the lads throughout the game.

"In possession we were very bright and effective and always had options available, which we used intelligently."
