American goalkeeper Neal Kitson was delighted to contribute in his English football debut for Northampton Town on the weekend.
The 26-year old, on loan from USL Pro Division outfit Rochester Rhinos, was able to save a penalty as the Cobblers drew 1-1 with Crewe Alexandra in England's League Two.
Kitson was thrilled to have received such strong backing from his new club and was happy to come up with the spot-kick save to help the 18th-placed fourth tier side to a vital point.
"The gaffer (Aidy Boothroyd) has believed in me, the team were behind me and it was a collective effort.
"I've always wanted to play in England and my family is from Sheffield. As soon as I had the opportunity to be here, I was on the plane. There's a couple of players who've come over [from the USA] and done well, and hopefully I can add my name to that list."
He added: "I felt there was going to be a penalty.
"I enjoy them. I read his eyes, went the right way and luckily enough it hit me.""This is my first game in England [when] I've actually been able to show what I can do," the New York native told BBC Northampton.
