Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland says Steve Bruce's influence secured them a point against Manchester City on Saturday.

"In past games, we would have sunk and gone under," he said. "But everyone has stepped up a gear, and the gaffer has been a big part of that.

"He demands hard work and intensity and has the respect of everyone. If anyone is not performing, they will be out of the team."
