Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland admits they let themselves down last week in defeat to Hull City.

The Latics slipped up against Hull after beating Chelsea the previous week.

Ahead of their clash with Manchester City, Kirkland told the Wigan Evening Post: "After the highs of the Chelsea game, we were back down to a low.

"But that's football. We let ourselves down at Hull and we've had to pick ourselves up. We've had time now to get over a few niggles and we've put some hard work in on the training ground.

"It's not a case of going away on holiday for a week, it's been hard work all the way and that's the way it's got to be."
