Joe Kinnear is proud to be taking temporary charge of Newcastle United.

He knows he will not be on Tyneside for the long haul as owner Mike Ashley, the man who asked him to step in, in the process of selling the club.

However, he sees it as an opportunity to relaunch his career, and to work for a club who under normal circumstances may not have sought him out.

Kinnear said: "When my career is over, I will be able to say I worked at Newcastle with the best supporters in the world."
