Kinnear will work with manager Alan Pardew and chief scout Graham Carr, yet supporters are not convinced it is the right combination.

The former Wimbledon boss told the Evening Chronicle: “Look at the Premier League table.

“You have Swansea in ninth and Newcastle 16th.

“This is a massive club. How can that happen? Next season we will be looking at the top 10 at least and then after that pushing top six.”
