Former Tottenham captain Ledley King is delighted seeing Tim Sherwood give young players their chance this season.
Sherwood has brought Nabil Bentaleb and Harry Kane into the first-team picture this season.
"You'd love to see managers get more time and more of a chance to take a few risks, knowing their job will still be safe," King told the London Evening Standard. "That would then allow more youngsters to have the chance to play.
"Tim is not afraid of that. He believes in some of the young players and that's great. It's what you'd like - a manager who's in touch with some of the younger age groups at the club, keeping tabs and wanting them to break through.
"It's the thin line - trying to give young players the opportunity as well as performing at the highest possible level. As kids, you're going to come in and make mistakes, which is natural, and managers don't have much time. You have to win games and that's where it becomes difficult.
"Having come through that route myself, I love to see youngsters given a chance and that's where Tim has been great. He has worked with some of these players at close hand, he knows what they can do and he will give them their chance."
