King enjoys Tottenham playing return

Ledley King made a playing return for Tottenham yesterday.

King played the first half of a Spurs XI's 1-0 win at Ipswich, his first taste of action since the World Cup.

King, 29, suffered a groin injury in the 1-1 draw with the US and after being replaced at half-time he was unable to play any further part in the tournament.

But he was in happier mood last night and said: "I feel good. It was always the intention that I would only play the first half." Spurs, who fielded several youngsters in a team managed by Tim Sherwood, snatched victory through Russian star Roman Pavlyuchenko's deflected shot on the hour mark.
