Tottenham skipper Ledley King says victory at Portsmouth was a great sign of their improvement this season.
Spurs now sit inside the top four and King told his club's website: "We didn't play well at the start of the second half and obviously the sending off made it more difficult.
"The result shows the resilience we now have in the squad. That's three wins and a draw away from home so far and it shows we've improved in that department and we can get results away from home.
"That will be the difference between us really pushing on.
"It's going to be a tough league this season, every game is tough and teams will drop points. We're always confident at home so away form will be vital."
