Kilmarnock's Kyle remains on international standby

Kevin scored twice for Kilmarnock at the weekend as Killie ran out 2-1 winners over St Johnstone on Saturday taking his season tally to six from nine games. The big striker already has nine caps for Scotland but despite being called up for the two recent World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Holland Kyle has not played for his country since a 1-0 defeat to Denmark in April 2004.

"I go out there to do my job, to score goals for Kilmarnock and try to help them win points," he said.

"If I'm doing that, whatever comes with it is just a bonus. I have been picked for two squads, the second time after call-offs.

"If I get a call-up again it's something that I will look forward to and hopefully I can get involved if I get the opportunity.

"It's just nice to be talked about in that sort of breath again. It's obviously a privilege to play for your country and I'm no different, I would love another crack at it and see where it takes me.

"But it's just nice to score and get the three points."
