Kilmarnock striker Danny Invincibile hopes to get the all-clear from surgeons this week.
The Australian, who missed the second half of last season with a similar problem, was hurt in a practice match during last month's training camp at Il Ciocco in Italy and hasn't played since.
But boss Jim Jefferies is confident Invincibile will receive positive news and resume full training ahead of the SPL kick-off.
Jefferies said: "Danny's improving after a course of injections and the visit to the specialist is more for his peace of mind.
"Our physio thinks everything is okay but it's like when David Fernandez came back.
"David wanted extra tests before he could go full-steam ahead and I expect Danny to get the green light like he did."
