Kris Boyd has revealed that he would love to have another crack at a higher level if the opportunity arose.
The 30-year old former Rangers, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and Portland Timbers striker has reclaimed his best form for Kilmarnock this season, scoring 15 goals in 23 league appearances.
Boyd was a reported target for Forest and Blackpool in January and although neither of those moves eventuated, he admits he is interested in taking the next step at the end of the season.
"I've spoken to the manager (Allan Johnston) about it and told him that, if the opportunity arose for me to go and test myself at a big club or a higher level, then I'm ready to do that," he told the Daily Record.
"I'm happy here and I won't force anything to get out. But I can't sit here and say I'll be a Killie player for the rest of my life. It's not in my hands. All I can do is perform well and see what happens in the summer.
"I've already proved I can play at a big club, because you don't get any bigger than Rangers. I have the mentality to play at the highest level.
"A lot of players who are better than me have gone to Ibrox and failed because they didn't have the mentality. I have that."
Boyd added: "I'll be a Kilmarnock player until the end of the season but what happens after that I don't know.
"The next step is to be getting a start for Scotland."
