Kilmarnock's Boyd breaks Celtic ace Larsson's SPL scoring record

Kris Boyd became the leading goalscorer in Scottish Premier League history when he netted his 175th goal on the weekend.

The Kilmarnock striker scored a late consolation goal in Saturday's 4-1 home loss to Dundee United to move past Henrik Larsson's old record of 174 set during his time with Celtic between 1997 and 2004.

However, the goal was overshadowed by a disappoint loss to Killie which really took the gloss of the achievement for the Scotland international.

"The goal is a big moment for me and it is nice to score but it's the team that matters most," he said.

"While I am proud to score the goal I would like to have won the game too.

"I am paid to put the ball in the net and it was a good header. When my career is finished this is something I will look back on with even more pride.

"We are a million miles away from Dundee United as they are a top-six team and we need to focus on the sides round about us in the table."
