Kilmarnock boss Jim Jefferies is pleased his players have agreed to drop their long ball style adopted in the 3-1 defeat to Motherwell. "After a good performance against Hamilton, we should have gone into the Motherwell game with a lot of confidence but we didn't start well enough to set the tone," he said.

"Motherwell got a grip early in the game and we stopped doing the things that we were good at and resorted to thumping balls up to the front two.

"We don't do that and we didn't play like that against Hamilton.

"We asked them when they had ever had a session like that at training and told them to leave that to the Wimbledon's and teams like them.

"We get it down and pass it, get it wide and get it in the box for Kevin Kyle.

"When you are under pressure there are times when you want to play it long, but in the main you want to get the ball down and pass it.

"To be fair, the back four were under pressure and they had nothing to hit.

"People have got to want the ball and show for it otherwise it is difficult.

"Their reaction afterwards was good, though. It was nice to hear them saying that we were right, that they took what we said to them on board and will do something about it."
