Kilmarnock have been given permission to speak to Queen of the South boss Gordon Chisholm.
Queens chairman David Rae confirmed he had allowed Chisholm, to hold talks with Killie chairman Michael Johnston.
Rae told BBC Scotland: "I have a good relationship with the manager. It would not be right to stand in his way.
"I'm just hoping that once Gordon has spoken to them, he'll remain at Queens."
Rae added: "Gordon has done wonders for Queen of the South and in him, along with Kenny Brannigan and Billy Dodds, we have the best management team since I took over here eight years ago.
"I would be more than happy for things to remain as they are at the moment."
