Kilmarnock capture Spanish attacker Borja

Kilmarnock last night completed the signing of Borja Perez on a one-year deal.

The 30-year old Spaniard, who can play as a striker or attacking midfielder, underwent a trial spell with Killie recently which prompted manager Kenny Shiels to offer him a deal.

Killie have scored just one goal in their opening two Scottish Premier League matches so far this season and Shiels is hoping the former Alicante and Alcocorn man can help shoulder the load following Dean Shiels' move to Rangers.

"Borja Perez has signed until the end of the season. He plays at the top of the midfield, the same as Dean Shiels, so we are trying to get that creativity into the team," said Shiels.

"We need finishers as well but he is one that certainly I am pleased to get.

"We will probably need a goalscorer to take the pressure off Paul Heffernan and Rory Boulding.

"But Rory Boulding has some education in how he play now so he is hopefully ready to play from the start quite soon."
