Kevin Kilbane could sense the anger of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney when he was interviewed after starring against Bayer Leverkusen this week.
Rooney was upset with the questioning about his future.
Kilbane wrote in the Daily Mail about his former Everton teammate: "The story of the summer of course was that he was gone. He wasn't happy at United, and David Moyes, the new boss and his first manager at Everton, had blocked a mega millions switch to Chelsea. But watching him destroy Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night, you wouldn't know it.
"I was feet away when he was interviewed by TV after the game - and he looked far from happy with the direction of the questions - and his answers were somewhat inconclusive.
"But Rooney will feel his football is doing all the talking at the moment."
