Kightly says he opted for the short trip north to Stoke after turning his back on other interest in his services.
"I believe there was a bit of interest from a few other clubs, but I felt Stoke City were an established Premier League club and they are not far from where I live in Birmingham.
"But the main factor for me is that the club is on the up.
"It's a new era at Wolves because of the new manager coming in and I felt I needed a new era myself. I needed a fresh challenge to freshen things up for myself."
