Michael Kightly insists Burnley can beat the drop.
Sean Dyche's men will go into this afternoon's clash with Everton at Turf Moor without a win since they secured promotion last season.
But winger Kightly said: "These days young players can be in academies on big money and not have the hunger that I had at that age. We haven't got any of that in our squad.
"There is not one Big Time Charlie. There are a lot of good lads who want to work hard and improve.
"We need to focus on how hard we've worked to get here and not let that slip through our fingers easily.
"We're not the type of group that will and the gaffer is not the kind of gaffer who will let us give up.
"We will keep fighting to the death and we are close to surprising a few."
