Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has been left impressed by new signing Maikel Kieftenbeld's performance during the 3-2 defeat against Leicester City on the weekend.

Birmingham have managed a huge coup by securing the services of Kieftenbeld from FC Groningen this summer and the fans were left purring following his fine showing against the Foxes.

Rowett was also impressed with his new acquisition and has stated his belief that the Dutchman will prove to be a great signing for his side.

"Maikel showed what he's showed us in training, I think he looks a terrific player," Rowett said. "On the ball he made some lovely passes and again showed what a really good signing he'll become."
