Blackburn defender Zurab Khizanishvili is confident of agreeing to a new contract.
Having made 31 appearances last season, his five outings this campaign represent a meagre return. But that has not put him off life in Lancashire, and he is currently in discussions about a new deal.
"We started talking a few days ago and we are close to finalising the deal for me to sign a new contract," said the £5million summer 2006 signing from Rangers.
"It could be sorted in the next few days. I want to stay at Blackburn Rovers."
Khizanishvili is not happy at having to watch Samba and Ryan Nelsen play the majority of matches - but he is keen to seize his chance when it arises.
"This is football - you are either disappointed or happy," said the 26-year-old.
"I don't know any player who is happy to be on the bench. You need to be a good professional - everyone wants to play, and I am no different - so when you get out on the pitch you have to do your best."
