Sami Khedira insists he doesn't fear competition at Real Madrid.

Khedira's position is under threat from on-loan Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien.

"The coach does not have a bad opinion of me, it is still clear that I remain a part of the staff of this team. I want to show that he can continue to count on me," he told AS.

"We've always had four or five defensive midfielders in recent years. This season we Xabi Alonso, Essien and me."
