Kewell ready to make contribution to Galatasaray

Harry Kewell says he is ready to make a contribution to the Galatasaray team when he returns from injury.

The Australia international sought specialists advice in Sydney in regards to his ongoing groin injury and a positive report has him looking forward to getting back on the pitch.

Kewell has targeted a return to play in four weeks and has stated his intent to a major contributor to the Gala' side as the chase the Turkish Super Lig title.

"I am very content here," Kewell told the Turkish Football Federation's magazine Tam Saha. "The thing I concentrate on right now is my football, and how I can make the maximum contribution to the team for the rest of the season."

There were rumours floating around that Kewell was set to be axed by the Istanbul club if news on his groin injury was negative but instead, manager Frank Rijkaard opted to release Congolese striker Shabani Nonda, and Kewell is now looking to repay the faith to a person he admires and trusts.

"And now I have the chance to work with a manager who I admire [Frank Rijkaard}]. He was an idol for me as a football player. I'm very happy to meet him and to work with him here," he added.

"I'm so pleased to play football under his management. I love his point of view towards football. I enjoy playing football again, because of Rijkaard and Galatasaray."

Kewell also said that he was delighted when his Socceroos teammate Lucas Neill joined the club and was confident he would bring a lot to the team.

"He is a very good friend of mine," said Harry. "I'm really happy that he decided to join our team.

"When he called me, I told him it would be fantastic to have him here. I'm pretty sure he will contribute to the team. He is a very experienced defender who has shown his quality throughout the years he played football. A very versatile player."
