Kewell nets penalty but to no avail as Galatasaray goes down

A Harry Kewell penalty was not enough to get Galatasaray through to the UEFA Cup quarter-finals. The Turkish club were at home to Hamburg SV in the second leg after a 1-1 draw in Germany and took the lead when Kewell converted a spot-kick in the 42nd minute.

Things got better for Gala' when Milan Baros doubled the lead four minutes after the break but things went downhill from then on.

Two goals in three minutes from Jose Paolo Guerrero got Hamburg back on level terms and when substituted Ivica Olic canme on and lobbed Morgan De Sanctis in the final minute, a brilliant comeback was completed.

It was a disappointing result for the Turkish powerhouse despite Kewell's best efforts.
