The Professional Footballers' Association have named their A-League Team of the Season for the 2011/12 season.
The most represented club in the team of 11 starters and five substitutes was second-year club Melbourne Heart with four whilst Premiers Plate winners Central Coast Mariners had three along with second-placed Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory, who despite finishing well outside the finals also had three selections. Wellington Phoenix had two with Sydney FC one selection to round it off.
Victory's off-season signing Harry Kewell shrugged off a slow start to gain a nomination on the bench alongside midfielder Carlos Hernandez who was also not at his best early in the season.
Returning A-League midfielder Fred, who skippered Melbourne Heart, was named as captain whilst up and coming Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Mathew Ryan took the gloves. His mentor Graham Arnold was named as coach of the side.
