Former England defender Martin Keown felt Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley was played out of position for last night's 1-1 draw with Ukraine.

Keown wrote in the Daily Mail: " ... are we going to play to Tom Cleverley's strengths? The Manchester United midfielder deservedly took the plaudits for his performance in Moldova on Friday but Ukraine were a different proposition.

"I don't feel it's his strength to play with his back to goal or at the top of the midfield three. He looked better with the ball in front of him. But he doesn't ghost into space like a Teddy Sheringham and was easy to pick up."
