Former England defender Martin Keown was disappointed with Liverpool striker Danny Sturridge's performance in last night's draw with the Republic of Ireland.

Keown wrote in the Daily Mail: "I know his game was cut short by injury but I felt Daniel Sturridge was playing within himself. The Liverpool striker has been so exciting to watch for his club since signing from Chelsea but he didn't play with the same conviction last night.

"I wanted to see him taking on defenders more, scaring them. I even felt that for the goal he set up. Maybe it was a slight case of nerves on his first start."
