Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is determined for Roberto Martinez to be their manager long-term.
The Daily Star Sunday says Kenwright has held talks over a new deal for Martinez.
Lawyers acting for the Spaniard met Kenwright for preliminary talks in London on Thursday despite Martinez being just ten months into a four-year deal.
Kenwright is aware of reports, which refuse to go away, linking Martinez with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.
