Kennedy the saviour for Newcastle Jets

If it wasn’t for Ben Kennedy, things could be much different for the Newcastle Jets this season.

If it wasn’t for Ben Kennedy, things could be much different for the Newcastle Jets this season.

The second-bottom Jets somehow have the equal-best defensive record in the competition, conceding just six goals in nine matches, and a lot of it has to do with the form of goalkeeper Kennedy.

The 23-year old has overcome a shaky start to his A-League career by becoming one of the most consistent performers with the gloves this season and it is a wonder that the Jets have only saluted once although Kennedy has kept five clean sheets, the second most on the league.

Kennedy’s performance in Saturday night’s 1-1 draw with the Brisbane Roar enabled the Jets to take a point home from Suncorp Stadium whereas a lesser shot-stopper may have faltered under such pressure and handed victory to the opposition.
