Kennedy, Kewell absences will force Socceroos to count on me - Al-Ain's Brosque

Alex Brosque says the absence of both Josh Kennedy and Harry Kewell will force Holger Osieck to count on his scoring services for Australia.

The 29-year old Al-Ain striker is expected to start for the Socceroos when they tackle Oman in Sydney on March 26 in 2014 World Cup qualifying and he is well aware that he will need to step out of the shadows for his country.

"Circumstances have changed from the time when I was just on the fringe waiting for an opportunity here or there," Brosque told SBS.

"Josh, unfortunately, has been injured for a long time while Harry still does not have a club, which does not give Holger that many options.

"So it has become a bit difficult for the two of them and the fact that I've been playing regularly shows that there is a reason Holger has kept faith in me and continued to pick me.

"I certainly feel a greater responsibility (to score goals) the more he plays me.

"This is a good thing because it keeps me on my toes but there also are a lot of young strikers coming through now, which is good to see.

"I always have a look at the 'Aussies abroad' section in the media to see how they are faring."
