Kelly determined to make Liverpool spot his own

Martin Kelly is looking to get as much game time as he can this pre-season in order to force his way into the Liverpool first team.

The 24-year old defender has made just nine Premier League appearances in the past two campaigns, mainly because of injury, and is now looking to win over manager Brendan Rodgers with some consistent performances ahead of the 2014/15 season.

"I think in terms of confidence and feeling strong I'm definitely 100 per cent, but in longer terms that takes games," the right-back told the club's official website.

"I've been fit for a season now but I haven't had the games, so the run of games is vital for me this season and hopefully they'll come in this pre-season.

"But I'm still part of the team, I was still travelling to all the games and I still felt a part of it. That's what was good from Brendan (Rodgers) - to keep me involved with the team.

"I'm just looking forward to this season, enjoying my football, enjoying being here with the team and it's exciting times for Liverpool, as you know."

Kelly, who came through the Reds' youth academy, has made 62 appearances in all competitions since joining the senior ranks in 2007.
