Keeper Sorensen signs new Stoke deal

Thomas Sorensen has ended speculation about his future by signing a new two-and-a-half-year contract with Stoke City. The 35-year-old Dane confirmed the news via Twitter, saying: "Just signed a new contract this morning. Proud to be a Potter for another 2 1/2 years."

Having reclaimed the number one spot from Asmir Begovic, the Denmark international has started the last five Premier League matches.

He joined in 2008 on a free transfer after five years at Aston Villa.

Sorensen made more than 150 appearances for Villa, who paid Sunderland £2.25m for his services in August 2003.

Sorensen's current contract had been due to expire in summer 2012.
