Keeper Hart's future at Man City still unresolved

Manchester City comfortably made the group stages of the Champions League after a 1-0 home success over Steaua Bucharest, although the 6-0 aggregate score was courtesy of the 5-0 win in Romania last week.

Whilst the result was a foregone conclusion the game could well have been the last for keeper Joe Hart who has had much success at City but does not appear to be part of new boss Pep Guardiola's plans for the future.

Willy Caballero has been preferred first choice keeper this season whilst Guardiola is finalising the signing of Barcelona custodian Claudio Bravo.

Not that the fans agree with this decision. They made sure that if this was to be the England international's last game for the club they would make their feelings felt. And throughout the game, particularly in the second half, Hart was cheered everytime he touched the ball culminating with the fans chanting "Stand up if you love Joe Hart" ending with huge applause iat the final whistle.

Hart was made skipper for the game and inevitably questions were asked of Guardiola over the situation regarding Hart. The Spaniard's neither confirmed or denied Hart was on his way out but admitted he was appointed to make decisions at the club and not all players would be happy with this.

"I was happy with the way Joe played and I know he is a legend at the club and has been responsible for its success and I am pleased with the way the fans respond to him and how he dealt with the few chances created made it a happy night for everybody.

Guardiola was asked was he sure he had made the right decision in demoting the fans favourite. "I am here to make decisions and throughout my coaching career I have made mistakes but I have been honest with Joe, been honest with the club and with the players and people must trust my judgement.

"The players must follow me and I will be there to help them. Joe is a Manchester City player like all the others and I am so happy he played at his best today."
