The 31-year old Republic of Ireland captain has joined the MLS club as one of the Galaxyâs three Designated Players on a two-year deal, alongside former Manchester United star David Beckham and USA international Landon Donovan.
The initial fee is believed to be worth around $US3.6million (£2.2m) which could rise depending on contract conditions agreed upon by Spurs and the Galaxy.
âI am delighted, honoured and very excited to be joining the LA Galaxy,â Keane said. âI have always wanted to come and play in MLS so itâs the perfect combination for me and a dream come true.
âMy family and I have already been made to feel very welcome in telephone calls from Tim Leiweke and (Galaxy manager) Bruce Arena.
âAlso when David Beckham came and trained at Spurs recently he couldn't speak highly enough about the Galaxy, their fans and the league in general, so I canât wait to get over and get started.â
