Keane intent on making LA Galaxy return before worrying about Republic of Ireland

Robbie Keane insists he wants to get back playing regularly for the LA Galaxy before he even thinks about representing his nation again.

The 34-year old striker is sidelined with a groin injury that has kept him out of action for more than five weeks - an absence that has him in doubt for upcoming fixtures with Republic of Ireland.

The country's captain is also their all-time leading scorer and caps record holder but he may not get to add to those remarkable tallies in the June 7 friendly with England and the Euro2016 qualifier with Scotland on June 13 if he cannot get back to full fitness beforehand.

"I'm focusing on getting myself playing for the Galaxy first, and then as soon as I get fit for that, then I can worry about [Ireland]," he said.

"For me, most important is focusing on getting back training by the end of this week or the start of next week, and then just seeing how I am.

"I'm not going [to guarantee] I'll be back next week, because I thought I would be back 2-3 weeks ago, and I wasn't, so you start saying that, and you don't really know.

"So I want to concentrate on hopefully getting back next week training and just take it from there."
