Keane on fire as LA Galaxy stun Juventus

Robbie Keane returned prematurely from a hip flexor injury to lead LA Galaxy to a surprise 3-1 victory over Italian champions Juventus at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night.

The Republic of Ireland striker set up Landon Donovan for the goal that gave LA a 2-1 lead on the hour-mark after coming on at half-time before wrapping up the contest in the 88th minute with a goal of his own.

What makes Keane's cameo even more brilliant was the he was not due to return to action until next weekend against FC Dallas but managed to spark the side to a triumph which sees them sitting second in the Western Group in the 2013 Guinness International Champions Cup.

"For me, it was about 45 minutes, getting the fitness in. And trying to be as sharp as I can," said Keane.

"For me, the most important game is next Sunday against Dallas. That's the game you have to play in.

"[This game] came at a good time for me, to be honest with you, because I've been out injured now for [three] weeks, so it was good to get 45 minutes and face more minutes on Wednesday. I look forward to Wednesday."

The Galaxy will now take on AC Milan at Miami's Sun Life Stadium on Wednesday, August 7 in the third-place playoff, prior to the final between Real Madrid and Chelsea.
