Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane fears the club could cash in on Connor Wickham sooner rather than later.
Manchester United legend Keane revealed the Tractor Boys knocked back big offers in the summer for the England Under 17 star targeted by London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.
But he was quick to add: "Who's to say that won't change in January?
"The club have resisted, and rightly so, even though there were some big, big offers.
"Keeping Connor was a message to the supporters. It was a plus, absolutely."
England Under 21 boss Stuart Pearce admitted last week that he has been keeping tabs on the powerfully-built Wickham.
But Keane said: "Hopefully he's got too much sense to notice that praise. He certainly hasn't changed - he's not driving a Bentley yet. When he comes into training in the Bentley I'll be worried."
