Keane confident being positive support for Villa boss Lambert

Roy Keane is confident he can be a benefit to Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert.

Keane spoke with the media yesterday about his new role and elaborated on how he expects the dynamic to work alongside Lambert.

"I'm here to help the manager and be someone you can trust," he said.

"Paul sees that in me and obviously Martin (O'Neill) does.

"It is about knowing your boundaries with the manager. You give your opinion and you leave it at that and the manager will make a final decision. I have been a manager before so I'm used to taking opinions off my staff or my scouts and then making a decision.

"There are no issues on that side of it. You learn as you go along with the different personalities you are working with.

"You get boundaries with people - just like I had with my staff when I was a manager. You maybe make the odd mistake along the way but I lot of it is common sense - when to speak and make your point and when to step back.

"Ultimately it is knowing your boundaries but the manager is the manager and he makes the decisions but the reason he has staff around him is because he appreciates their opinions."
