Kawashima remaining positive as Liege hold Ryan's Club Brugge

Standard Liege and Club Brugge played out a 0-0 draw on Monday night but it was a result which did not bother Eiji Kawashima too much.

The Japan international kept another clean sheet as the Belgian Pro League leaders remained a point ahead of Brugge by holding them at the Jan Breydelstadion.

In the wake of the draw, Kawashima initially felt like it was a subpar performance from Liege before suggesting that perhaps a point on the road against the second-placed side wasn't such a horrible result.

"I am not satisfied with our performance," said Kawashima.

"But ok, it is not all bad. Moreover, this point may still prove important later.

"We started the match with the intention to take (back) to Liege three points but in retrospect maybe we should be satisfied with the draw."

Down the other end from Kawashima was talented Australian keeper Mat Ryan who was also able to produce a shutout as his impressive debut season in Europe continues.
